Muhammad Faruque

Muhammad U. Faruque (PhD, UC Berkeley) is Associate Professor of non-Western Philosophy and Environmental Studies at the University of Cincinnati and a former Visiting Scholar at Harvard University. A prominent global philosopher who has lectured widely across North America, Europe, and Asia, his books and academic articles have been translated into numerous languages and have been recognized by important funding bodies across the United States, such as the Templeton Foundation. His first book, Sculpting the Self, won the prestigious World Book of the Year Award from Iran. His forthcoming book, The Interconnected Universe, explores how Sufi contemplative practices foster an ecologically sustainable way of life through an “anthropocosmic” vision of the self. He is the author of five books and over fifty academic articles, published (or forthcoming) in leading peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes.
